Beware of Cheryl…

The BBC is reporting that Cheryl Cole (or maybe Cheryl Fernandez-Versini) is the most dangerous online celeb.

15% of online search links to Cheryl contain malware apparently.

So the message is be careful with celeb links – ‘specially if there very gossipy. Also make sure your browser and anti-virus software is up-to-date..

UK tops phishing league!

UK has more spam with more malicious content than most of Europe and the US according to a story on The Register (here).

Unsolicited email destined for recipients in the UK is almost three times more likely to contain a malicious URL than the United States, Germany or France.

Not just the croc is scary

There’s a big phishing email going around about tickets to see a show of Peter Pan at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre.

You’re asked to open an attached e-tickets which appear as pdf files. Needless to say bad things will happen if you open the attachment.

The hallmarks of a phishing email are there; it involves money, it asks you top confirm something which you might think needs doing in a hurry and it has a media related theme.

So think twice if you get an email that has these things – don’t open any attachments or click any links.
